Heartfelt tribute to my father in law Late Master Gurbanta Singh Ji today on his 44th death anniversary.

He was known as a great social reformer, scholar, able administrator and the pre-eminent Dalit leader of Punjab. A great visionary, he contributed immensely for the progress of Punjab and the nation. He prioritised national and public service and encouraged everyone to work for the welfare of the society.

It was during Master Gurbanta Singh Ji’s tenure as the Agriculture Minister that the foundation of the Green Revolution was laid with the establishment of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and other institutions. He started the revolution against caste divisions under Ad Dharam Mandal, Jalandhar and led the struggle for the elimination of untouchability and inequality from the society. As we remember him today, we reaffirm our dedication to follow his teachings and path.
