After his dad Paul passed away from cancer, singer Jake Quickenden did everything he could to block out the pain of loss.

“I did the typical man thing. I didn’t want to talk about it, I got drunk a lot, went out and partied a lot, which is probably the worst thing you can do,” the former X Factor star admits.

“I tried to take my mind off losing my dad, but you wake up and feel 10 times worse the next day.”

Aged just 20 when Paul lost his battle against myeloma – cancer of the bone marrow – Jake admits he still feels a sense of guilt for not being with his dad at the end.
