न्यूजीलैंड में पंजाबियों की भर्ती का विरोध, पुलिस ने प्रदर्शन रोका
The Emergency is seen as a dark chapter in Indian history. The Indian Emergency was for 21-month period from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977, when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency, suspended civil liberties and Imposed censorship. Which the entire opposition of India led by shri Jai Prakash Narayan protested against it in the whole of country, to suppress the protests, the leaders of the opposition parties were put in jail. In this suppression, Jai Prakash Narayan emerged as a public hero, the Emergency is remembered as a dark time due to widespread human rights violations, arrest of opposition leaders and curbing of press freedom.
But to prevent inflation and black marketing, the rate list was strictly enforced on shopkeepers. And to control the growing population, an awareness campaign of “Hum Do Hamare Do” was launched and at the same time a vigorous sterilization campaign was launched and sterilization was done on a large scale to control the population, the effect of which can be seen even today in the form of the trend of two children in our society, otherwise today the population of our country would have crossed 200 crores. Such a big task of population control got drowned in the noise of violation of human rights and murder of democracy.
The emergency ended with the elections of 1977, in which Indira Gandhi, who emerged as the great heroine who created Bangladesh by defeating Pakistan in 1971, had to face defeat.
