Congress promises Rs 1 lakh to every poor family, every year
·
LUDHIANA, May 12 (Vikrant Madaan) : Punjab Congress president and party’s candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today announced that the Congress government at centre will provide Rs one lakh to every poor family every year. This, he said, will practically finish poverty from the country.
Addressing a series of public meetings and holding interactions with a cross section of people during his extensive campaign in various assembly segments here today, Warring said, during the ten year rule of the BJP about 20 crore people had been pushed below the poverty line again.
He said, Congress party has proposed a revolutionary guarantee, which has never been done by any government anywhere in the world. He said the Congress government will identify all the poor families across the country. He said, the eldest lady in every poor family will receive Rs 8500 every month directly in her account.
When asked whether such a step will not drain the economy, the Punjab Congress president said, it will instead “jump start” the economy. He pointed out, every poor family, which will receive the money will spend it which will lead to demand for goods. These will be produced in the factories and they will in the process generate employment. He said, it will create a full economic cycle unlike Modi’s economy where wealth and resources were distributed among just a few handful of billionaires.
Reiterating his charge that the BJP candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu had proved to be a “ghost MP” only, Warring said, people of Ludhiana will soon know the “difference between a ghost MP and a real MP” after June 4.
He observed, win or loss made no difference for Bittu as he would always vanish the day campaigning was over. “He was always a campaign traveller and an electoral tourist”, he said, while remarking, “once the campaign was over and election season ended, Bittu vanished and this time he will vanish for good, never to return again, as people of Ludhiana will accord him a decent farewell”.
