General public and patients going to PIMS will get relief from the jam at bus stand chowk and railway crossing - Amritpal Singh

Chairman District Planning Committee Amritpal Singh has sent a proposal to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to build a flyover at Gadha Railway Crossing at a cost of about Rs 72 crore with a request to release the necessary funds with respect to this project.  In a letter written to the Chief Minister, Committee Chairman Amritpal Singh has requested that this project should be included in the budget scheme of the current financial year (2023-24) and necessary guidelines should be issued to the Finance Department. 

Giving more information about this, District Planning Committee Chairman Amritpal Singh said that the project for the construction of this flyover has been prepared by the committee keeping in view the convenience of the people.  This flyover will start from Kings Hotel adjacent to BMC Chowk and go to Pims Hospital.  He said that this will provide relief to the people from the massive traffic jam at Bus Stand Chowk and Gadha Railway Crossing as the people coming and going towards PIMS will go directly through the flyover, they will not have to get stuck in the jam below. 

Amritpal Singh said that a large number of patients visit PIMS on a daily basis and they face a lot of trouble due to the traffic jam. Therefore, a proposal has been prepared to deal with the traffic jam situation on this road.  He said that the traffic vehicle unit at this railway crossing is 223452, which is more than one lakh, the number required for the construction of a flyover, hence the flyover can be constructed at this crossing. 

The Chairman of the Planning Board further said that many more projects will be prepared by the committee in the coming days for the convenience of the people.  He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously bringing out public-friendly schemes so that the best facilities can be provided to the people.
