With immense pleasure and exultation, State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt. organized 16th All India Sardar Darshan Singh Memorial English Debate Competition. Its an interschool debate competition where 60 students from 30 schools from different district of Punjab participated with full zeal and zest.
The debate was illuminated with the benign presence of the chief guest, the President of group of State Public Schools, Dr Narotam Singh and Guest of Honour, the Vice President of Group of State Public Schools, Dr Gagandeep Kaur.
The jury members of the debate comprised of respected Prof. B.P.S Bedi, who is an MA, M. phil in English from Punjab University, Chandigarh, worthy Dr Reena Sharma, an associate profession with 22 years of teaching English from KMV and respected Mrs. Randeep Mand, an inspiring writer from Punjab.
The competition started with shabad gayan and ended with incredible India dance performance and national anthem. It was a cut throat competition and with lot of efforts and thought by judges MGN School, Adarsh Nagar , Jalandhar was declared as winner school of the debate and won Cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a grand winner trophy whereas the first runner up school was Dayanand Model School , Jalandhar andreceived cash prize of Rs 5000 and a trophy. Springdale School, Amritsar was awarded with second runner up trophy and was honoured with cash prize of Rs 3000 and trophy. Atharvika Kad from Saffron Public School, Phagwara bagged the first prize among the best speaker category and she received Rs 2000 cash and a trophy while Sargun Arora got the second position from Innocent School, Lohoran and received cash prize of Rs 1500 along with a trophy. Jannat Siddiqui from Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara got the third position in the best speaker category who was honoured with cash prize of Rs 1000 and a trophy.
The President of Group of State Public Schools, Dr. Narotam Singh,the Vice President, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Mrs. Savina Bahl were overjoyed with the fantastic performance of the debaters and congratulated all the winning schools as well the speakers.
